Observing human mind with an evolutionary tool!?
Interactive evolutionary computation (IEC) (concretely IGA, IES, IEP, or IGP) is a framework for optimizing the target system based on IEC user’s subjective evaluation. The IEC user’s psychological evaluation scale in mind is reflected in his or her subjective evaluation characteristics, and these in turn, are reflected in the systems designed with the IEC. We may be therefore able to observe the psychological scale or the mental health state of the user indirectly by observing the system outputs.
This constitutes a new direction for IEC research, while most past IEC researches focus on system optimization.
Experimental result using IEC-based CG lighting design with three schizophrenics and five mentally healthy students implies that this approach has potential to measure human mental health. See detail at (PDF).
