Machine Insight looking for genetics-based machine learnists
A keyword driven advertisement led me to Gil Sysweda and his most recent company, Machine Insight , and their need for a few good machine learnists (here).
We are currently looking for people with a strong background in statistical AI and machine learning, with the desire to apply these technologies to real-world problems. Techniques of interest include bagging and boosting, support vector machines, neural networks, and Bayesian networks, as well as evolutionary techniques like learning classifier systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical theory. Experience with object-oriented design and programming is desirable, preferably in C++, as well as experience with Matlab, S-Plus and Mathematica. Experience in the financial services sector is also a plus.
Gil is a creative guy with a keen eye to commercial opportunity. From an earlier conversation (and the current web site) the effort is a kind of learning classifier system, estimation of distribution algorithm hybrid. From the web site, it appears that financial applications are the current interest, although I believe the company is interested in spinning out the technology in other verticals.
