Lawrence Fogel, RIP
Evolutionary Computation pioneer Lawrence Fogel passed away on Sunday.
Mr. Fogel is survived by his wife, Eva; sons, David and Gary; and three grandchildren.

Michael Trick’s OR blog worth a read
Frankly, much traditional operations research (OR) seems locked in 1950s time warp, but Mike Trick's OR blog is worth a read (here). Trick seems to understand that there is a wider world of systems and people out there that OR needs to do a better job of serving.

Climate change model CLIMEX tuned via GA
Hearne Scientific Software in Melbourne, Australia has released a new version of their software CLIMEX with genetic algorithms used to tune model parameters (press release here). Among the features in version three is the following:
