Billion-variable & scalability work cited
IlliGAL's work on genetic algorithm extreme scalability, including the billion-variable work, is mentioned prominently in a blog post at Joris's jlog here. Joris's abstract submission (here) to Google's Scalability Conference (here) cites The Design of Innovation, Pelikan's hBOA work, and the billion-variable breakthrough. Examine the full billion-variable tech report here.

NASA chief mentions GAs in cool speech
Read NASA administrator, Michael D. Griffin's , Two Cultures speech over here. I had similar thoughts upon reading C. P. Snow's essay some years ago, and the same impulse is behind the ETSI/ETC efforts here.

IlliGAL GA proves P = NP
April 1 (Urbana, IL). The Illinois Genetic Algorithms Laboratory (IlliGAL ) announced today that a simple genetic algorithm proved that P = NP. Details of the surprising result will be published next month in the journal Complexity. Details released today indicate that a 20-node cluster computer running since the 1988 publication of Genetic Algorithms in […]
